My Interviews

Happy New Year and Thank You! - My submission & blog stats, 132K+ visitors in 2019!

Happy New Year and big thanks to such an incredible online community of poets, writers, and supporters! I started actively posting and promoting this poetry blog in October 2014, and have seen a constant increase in traffic, likes, and followers. I've met some amazing and talented people along the way.
My blog really started out as an experiment, to just share the things I've learned in the last year or so as I began actively submitted my poems and other writing to different markets. It does seem there is a need for clear, concise, and quick ways to stay updated on calls for submissions, contests, writing tips, especially those with a focus on poetry. I'd love to hear from my readers if they have suggestions for information I can share or other resources they find helpful in their quest to publish poetry.

Below are some stats for this last year, including:

My submission stats

Here are my personal submissions stats for 2019, which I track in Duotrope. Many of the poems I sent out were sent to multiple markets as simultaneous submissions. My acceptance rate dropped some from last year, since I started challenging myself and sending to tougher markets with lower acceptance rates. Some of the poems published this year were actually submitted last year.
Total Manuscripts Submitted: 15 (14/15 same manuscript to 15 markets)
Total Poems Submitted: 177 (total count, not unique poems)
Total Poems Accepted: 12
Total Poems Published: 15 (includes reprints)
Total Books Published: 1

  1. Congratulations on all your hard-won, well-deserved great stats for 2019! I love and follow your blog and am pretty sure I got counted many times over for likes, visits, and comments. I’ve also forwarded your blog to many poet friends when I know one of the markets you present is right up their alley. Hope 2020 doubles your good news…or more.

  2. You’re amazing. It’s been a pleasure to share the mic with you this past year. On to more poetic acclaim in 2020, Trish!

  3. Thank you for all your work. I do not know how you do it.
I am 67, back in grad school (non degree at the moment), working in getting into the MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry at the University of KY. My poetry prof for fall encouraged me to get back to submitting, and your blog certainly helped! Currently I am slaving away on my MFA application ms whichhas a Feb. 1 deadline. Wish me luck!

  4. Love what you do Trish. A real inspiration and bench mark on how to make poetry work. Invaluable support for writing and all things associated. You should be super proud!

  5. Much deserved stats and recognition! I don't write poetry but yours is an invaluable site for literary journals of all kinds, and one I frequently recommend to fellow writers! Thank you for all the hard work you put into this!
