My poem “You think you’ll never find someone” published in Bloodroot (no fee subs open Jan 1)

I’m happy to share my poem “You Think You’ll Never Find Someone,” included in the Fall 2026 issue of Bloodroot Poetry Journal. The issue brings together an international group of poets alongside professional photography, continuing the journal’s focus on exemplary poetry and work written “in response to” art, experience, and the world around us.

With their next reading period opening January 1, 2027, it also seems like a good time to introduce – or reintroduce – this journal to other poets looking for a place to send their work.

Bloodroot Poetry Journal is a visually rich, international publication founded and edited by Marc Frazier. The journal brings poetry and professional photography together, with photographs appearing between poems as a kind of pause for the reader. Its inaugural issue included poets from India, Nigeria, France, Australia, England, Wales, the United States, and Canada.

Submissions reopen January 1, 2027 and remain open through February 28. Bloodroot Poetry Journal welcomes all styles of well-crafted poetry, particularly poems written “in response to” the world around the poet – including work in conversation with painting, film, literature, social issues, historical figures and events, or transformative moments. Frazier also mentioned he’d like to see truly fresh approaches to childhood, death, and grief.

For more about the journal and what they’re looking for, see my interview with editor Marc Frazier and the submission information below.
