Below is the information from Amanda Moore for her online writing retreat with craft tips, readings to inspire, submission suggestions and more!
Poetry readings, book launches, and events have been called off to flatten the curve of COVID-19; sporting events have been cancelled or postponed, Broadway is closed, schools and university courses are being moved online, and we are all being urged to #StaytheFuckHome when we can (which sadly we all CAN'T). Can we really write poems at a time like this? Should we? I'm not sure, but I'm hoping to create a community space for it and see what happens--we all need art and poetry, and what better way to make it than together?
Join me starting Monday, March 16th for an online writing retreat. Each day I'll post a craft lecture or essay, a poem to read and reflect on, a prompt to inspire your own writing, and a journal where you can submit your work. There will be room for your responses, healthy discussions, and to promote work that isn't getting heard in person while we're distancing and missing out on book launches and readings. Let's see if we can use poetry as a path to support, inspire, and help one another in this wild, confusing time. I'm open any way we can foster online community and poetry from our distant home bases--have ideas? Get in touch!
See you Monday! I'll be posting links to social media to make it easier to find your way back here and follow along.
