"Short-form Shout Out – ALMOST FAMOUS – Trish Hopkinson" via The Maynard (open to submissions!)

Such a pleasure to see this short-form shout out and mini-review for my most recent chapbook Almost Famous by Jami Macarty, co-founder and editor of The Maynard poetry journal on their Facebook page and on Twitter where they share excerpts, poetry prompts, updates, and of course shout outs to to poets. Jami and I were fortunate enough to meet in person, more than once even, at the sparsely attended, but still joyous AWP in San Antonio earlier this month.

Macarty’s mini-review gives a detailed summary in a single long paragraph and in a way, a catalog of the poems. Here’s an excerpt:

“Hopkinson's chapbook acts like a family album, one in words that documents the family narratives through three generations--"Whose genes we carry. / Whose archives." The poet begins at the beginning--imagining "my unconscious mother" and the doctor who "fished around for my tender / skull, and excised me from comfort.”
