Join IWWG with your host Trish Hopkinson for an evening of celebration, discussion on self-care for creative writers, and a poetry contest kick-off event! We’ll be announcing the upcoming poetry programming, including a poetry contest with cash prizes in collaboration with Kelsay Books, and gathering together poets, writers, and educators, to talk about self-care for creatives–how to nurture your creativity and create healthy writing habits while balancing other aspects of life. Panelists include:
- Katie Manning, contest judge, award-winning poet, and founding editor of Whale Road Review
- Nnenna Loveth Nwafor, published under the name Sarah Nnenna Loveth Nwafor, queer, Igbo-American poet, educator, and facilitator
- Marj Hahne, poet, writer, editor, and educator
- Sherre Vernon, poet, educator, and mentor
- Anya Achtenberg, novelist, poet, educator, and writer’s consultant
- Elisabeth Blair, poet, writing consultant, editor, and workshop leader
The Guild’s Poetry Palooza is a multiple-month program where you can hone your craft, learn about self-care in writing life, social justice writing, and arm yourself with insider knowledge on the publishing industry. Whether you’re brand new to poetry or a best-selling professional, there is lots to learn with our panel kick-off event and workshops, scheduled alongside free writes and open mics so you can attend them all.
