Word nerds everywhere are going to love this article! It was great to see “blackout poetry” mentioned and I definitely got a kick out of “lumbersexual” and “ammosexual.” Big thanks to Grant Barrett of The Dallas Morning News for having such a great ear and compiling this list:
“Snips of language are buzzy little things, some sharp, some camouflaged, each remarkable for a time in our ears and mouths and minds. They are abundant signals of culture.
Since 2003, I've been putting together an annual word list from books, magazines, newspapers, television, movies and public conversations. The words come from schoolkids, Twitter wits, stand-up comics, bureaucrats and more.”
