Call for Submissions

NO FEE submission call + editor interview – Nevermore Journal (NEW!), DEADLINE: Oct. 31, 2020

Nevermore Journal is a new online journal with a love for ravens “looking for works that are bold, willing to experiment with style, form, and content all to a focused and indelible result, whether it be poetry, flash, short fiction or nonfiction. While we do like losing ourselves in longer works, for the sake of time we ask that submissions be kept to a maximum of 3,000 words.” They are currently open for submissions until October 31, 2020 for their first issue. See my interview with their staff to learn more below.

HOPKINSON: Tell me a little bit about Nevermore Journal.

STAFF: Nevermore Journal was co-founded by several PLNU alum, specifically three lit majors who just can’t quite shake our obsession with stories. We accept submissions twice a year, every April and September. We also love ravens.

HOPKINSON: What type of work are you looking for?

STAFF: We’re looking for works that are bold, willing to experiment with style, form, and content all to a focused and indelible result, whether it be poetry, flash, short fiction or nonfiction.

HOPKINSON: What is your favorite part of being on staff with Nevermore Journal?

STAFF: Our editors love having an opportunity to read original work, whether it be from up and coming poets or seasoned writers. We love stories and feel deeply that they’re incredibly important to the way we understand one another and the world around us. And we wanted to create a journal dedicated to storytelling wherein writers and poets can express their own voices and tell their stories (in one form or another).

HOPKINSON: Where can we send submissions?

STAFF: Submissions can be emailed directly to nevermorejournal@gmail.com. Our website has some details on formatting and genre for submissions: https://nevermorejournal.com/submissions/

HOPKINSON: If someone has a question, how can they contact you?

STAFF: We’re usually easiest to reach via email, nevermorejournal@gmail.com.
