Couplet Poetry is a new online literary journal “dedicated to publishing two poems (a couplet) by one author that rhyme (thematically or sonically), pair, complement, juxtapose, hold hands, translate or otherwise couple with one another.” They are currently open for submissions of poetry for their first issue until February 14. See my interview with Editor Rebecca Lehmann and a link to submission guidelines below.
HOPKINSON: Tell me a little bit about Couplet Poetry.
LEHMANN: Couplet Poetry is a literary journal dedicated to reading and publishing two poems per author, a couplet. The poems must pair, hold hands, juxtapose, rhyme (literally or figuratively), translate, or otherwise be incapable of living apart. We only consider two poems per author. Send one pair.
HOPKINSON: How was it originally started?
LEHMANN: I wanted to provide a showcase for poems that are part of a set, that chatter back and forth to each other.
HOPKINSON: Who is your target reader audience?
LEHMANN: Anybody who loves poetry.
HOPKINSON: What type of work are you looking for?
LEHMANN: Topic is open, though we skew toward the jarring, the odd, the weird, the macabre, the political, the punk, the intersectional, the depressed, the fierce, the feminist and/or the misbehaved.
HOPKINSON: Where can we send submissions?
LEHMANN: You can put your pair of poems directly into the body of an email and send it to coupletpoetry@gmail.com
HOPKINSON: If someone has a question, how can they contact you?
LEHMANN: Email us at coupletpoetry@gmail.com
