This poem was inspired by a recent prompt at the Utah Arts Festival Iron Pen competition and helped me process the events in Orlando that I had not yet been able to put into words. We have a strong LGBTQ community in Salt Lake City and there are certainly powerful ties to the larger national and international queer community.
I’m honored to have my new poem “Temple City listens to Orlando” published in Quail Bell alongside so many talented poets and writers. Spend some time in its pages and then submit your own poem. They will be taking Orlando tribute poems through the month of July.
“Quail Bell Magazine is a place for real and unreal stories. We accept submissions in art, writing, and multimedia, including creative, journalistic, and (semi-)scholarly work. We accept simultaneous submissions and previously published work.”
Quail Bell will be open for Orlando tribute poems through the month of July. Turn-around time is fast and the editors are such a pleasure to work with!
