The British Library via Flikr now offers a huge variety and multiple albums to browse through of illustrations and art that are completely public domain and free to use! From beautiful typography, to bazaar illustrations, book covers, cycling, architecture, decorative papers, and so much more–the possibilities are endless.
I’m thinking these could be used as prompts or for broadsides, chapbooks, web sites, etc. So many gorgeous illustrations… the only problem is how to choose!

pixabay.com is another good site for public domain images. It’s the main site I use myself to find images and photos to go with the pieces that are published on the literary journal I edit and run (A Quiet Courage).
Thanks Clara!
You’re welcome Trish.
Thank you for this great resource. I’d been looking for graphics to dress up my Blog with. I’m sure you’ve never seen it, but if you had I would take this as a hint.
