The literary magazines/journals listed below all offer some form of payment, do not charge submission/reading fees, take online submissions, and have submission deadlines in October 2017.

This list focuses on poetry submissions, but most lit mags accept prose and art as well. The listings are in order of closest deadlines.

Chicken Soup for the Soul

Mothers of Angels

NOTES: An anthology of reflections about living through the grief of losing a child

NOTES: Writing by women, including trans* persons, gender-variant and two-spirit women, and women of non-binary sexual orientations, any theme for this issue

PAYMENT: "All contributors will be paid upon publication: $50 CAD for one page, $60 for two pages, $90 for three pages, $120 for four pages, $150 for five or more pages."

World Unknown Review

DEADLINE: October 31, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: “We accept reprints under certain circumstances. Please feel free to submit a previously published story with the details of its previous publication(s), and we will consider them on a case-by-case basis. Do not submit stories for which you currently do not hold the copyright.”

FORMS: poetry, prose

PAYMENT: The authors selected for the Review received three (3) contributor copies of the publication as well as $15 (USD) via check or PayPal or $30 (USD) for the novella competition

Winter Tangerine

DEADLINE: November 1, 2017 (tip jar submissions are open year-round)

SUBMISSION FEE: None

PAYMENT: Contributors to all WT issues, regardless of genre, are compensated with $20.
