What are ecopoems? I like the description from The Poetry Lab, “An ecopoem is a poem that explores environmental issues such as the climate crisis and how it affects both the human and the more than human worlds.” Read more in their article More than Human Worlds: 5 Important Ecopoems.
The listings below are literary magazines/journals that are known for publishing poetry with environmental or ecopoem themes. These listings are alphabetical and I’ve included brief notes on simultaneous submissions (sim subs), other unique submission notes, and if they are paying in the notes column. These lit mags/journals also fit the following criteria:
- Generally do not charge fees to submit (although some may charge fees for some types of submissions and for contests).
- They accept poetry submissions.
- All accept electronic submissions.
If you know of any other lit mag or journal interested in ecopoem themes that don’t charge fees and accept poetry, please comment below and I’ll add them to the list!

Please consider adding the environmental literary journal, Ark Review (https://www.arkreview.com/), to your list!
Ark Review considers prose, poetry, and art pieces revolving around ecological topics. Each piece is published with an original cover. Their fifth volume is being released this week. They are open for submissions year-round.
Will do! Thanks for the info!
