Split Lip Magazine “is an online journal driven to help literature mingle with pop culture and to allow art to serve as an alternative means to mainstream journalism, which is filtered and reveals only surface-level truth. Split Lip is a punk rock publishing collective, and we are unfiltered, unrefined, extra virgin––shake well before drinking.”
Their editors are badass, approachable, and kind. To read more about the all stars of their empire, check out their About page.
They currently have two open contests, the Livershot Memoir Contest and the Turnbuckle Chapbook Contest. The Turnbuckle Chapbook Contest does require a $10 entry fee, but is a great value. The winner receives $100, plus 20 author copies. The deadline for the Turnbuckle contest is January 16, 2016.
