This list focuses on poetry submissions, but most lit mags accept prose and art as well. The listings are in order of closest deadlines.

Crab Orchard Review

DEADLINE: January 10, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: Special Issue: Weather Reports: All About the Weather

FORMS: poetry, fiction, or literary nonfiction

PAYMENT: $25 (US) per magazine page ($50 minimum for poetry; $100 minimum for prose) and two copies of the issue

Wizards in Space Literary Magazine

DEADLINE: January 15, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: Accepts previously published work

FORMS: “We do not wish to limit on theme or genre. In Issue 01, we accepted a variety of forms from flash fiction to long form personal essays to whimsical poetry.”

PAYMENT: All contributors receive a contributors’ prize of $30

Helios Quarterly Magazine

DEADLINE: January 15, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: Commercial Cosmonauts & Hired Guns wants stories that delve into various journeys of unwilling and daring adventurers. What propaganda forces these individuals to battle against the universe and formidable foes? What are the stories being left untold in these narratives dominated by the lone white male savior against the world?

FORMS: “We do not wish to limit on theme or genre. In Issue 01, we accepted a variety of forms from flash fiction to long form personal essays to whimsical poetry.”

PAYMENT: Varies depending on form. Short stories pays  $0.03USD per word; Poetry pays $0.25USD a line up to 100 lines.

SHARKPACK Annual

DEADLINE: January 15, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: “Our fourth issue is OPEN WATER: LONGFORM. You may write about any topic you want, but poems must be at least 50 lines, short fiction from 1,000-2,000 words.”

PAYMENT: “every contributor receives a small honorarium of $25”

NOTES: Fairy-tale inspired stories and poems only. Read guidelines carefully.

Hyperion and Theia

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: Current theme is  Saturnalia. Read guidelines carefully.

PAYMENT: Poetry: Up to 100 lines. Paid $0.25USD a line. / Prose: Paid $0.01USD per word. Paypal payment only.

Room

DEADLINE: January 31, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: Writing by women, including trans* persons, gender-variant and two-spirit women, and women of non-binary sexual orientations, on the theme of Migration.

PAYMENT: “All contributors will be paid upon publication: $50 CAD for one page, $60 for two pages, $90 for three pages, $120 for four pages, $150 for five or more pages.”

Wordrunner eChapbooks

DEADLINE: January 31, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: The theme for this year’s anthology is breaking barriers or pushing against boundaries.

FORMS: poetry, fiction, nonfiction

PAYMENT: “$100 for collections, $5 to $25 for poems, stories and essays published in the annual anthology.”

NonBinary Review

DEADLINE: February 1, 2017

SUBMISSION FEE: None

NOTES: We are open to submissions which relate to the entirety of Edgar Allan Poe’s work–poetry as well as prose. Submissions which do not tie into the plots or make use of characters/settings from the stories WILL NOT be considered–there needs to be a clear connection to the source material.

FORMS: poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and art

PAYMENT: “NonBinary Review pays 1 cent per word for fiction and nonfiction, and a flat fee of $10 per poem and $25 per piece of visual art”
