I am honored to have my found poem “Breastgiver” published in this amazing poetry and art anthology BARED: Contemporary Art and Poetry on Bras and Breasts with so many wonderful writers and artists. Please note, this anthology is worth every penny, with 374 pages including stunning full color art and 170 women artists/poets represented in it’s pages. A portion of the proceeds from BARED will be donated to the University of Nebraska Foundation Wanda Ewing Memorial Scholarship Fund. During select events, a portion of proceeds will also go to specified organizations that support women.
A tremendous thanks to Sally Deskins, editor Laura Madeline Wiseman, and Les Femmes Folles who not only created a beautiful collection of poetry and art, but for all they are doing support women artists! You can check out upcoming events and art shows here. The next show for BARED is in August in Nashville.

About the Anthology'

“This anthology collects the work of 170 contemporary women poets and artists. Exploring the gendered narratives that clothe and fashion the body, gender subversion, the traditional male gaze, feminist theories, and more, the artists and poets collected in Bared: Contemporary Poetry and Art on Bras and Breasts resist given narratives about the breast and bra by boldly presenting alternatives in written and visual art. The poetry and art of Bared consider commodification, training bras, mammograms, bra factories, biopsies, bra-fit, pencil tests, cancer, mastectomies, sexuality, implants, nursing, representation, and so much more, highlighting the importance of women's bodies now and in the coming years. The cover art is by Wanda Ewing, University of Nebraska at Omaha's tenured professor who was diagnosed with cancer in May 2013 and died a few short months later in December.”
My poem “Breastgiver” is below:

breast-giver--she creates in the
blind alleys with chapped feet and
large round breasts. Take your wife,
greedy crow, unthinking bull driven by
lust. You eat rice and stolen samosas by
the oil lamp. Countless beings raised a hue
and cry in deepest night. She creates as mother,
pinched skinny even while your flies were
fat. Her capacious bosom, a seething vat
of milk. Her offspring, a better human
material created by devotion, by
mother's will. I put flowers on
her belly, her languid-hipped
body, her motherhood.
