Fahmidan was founded in the summer of 2020 with a mission to be a global, affordable, and inclusive literary, media, and education organization that serves the global literary community and beyond. “We believe in Diversity in Action, not tokenistic diversity or exclusionary policies that divide more than love.” Based in the United Kingdom their team continues to grow with approximately 30 members of staff.

HOPKINSON: How/why was Fahmidan originally started? 

ARTHUR: Fahmidan was started with the belief that global inclusion and accessibility can be achieved. We believe in accessibility for everyone and what that means is we center all stakeholders. Whether that be our editors and readers, submitters, workshop attendees and facilitators, or our blog writers and beyond. We also believe in paying people whatever we can because the postmodern economy demands more than exposure. 

HOPKINSON: Who is your target reader audience? 

ARTHUR: Everyone!

HOPKINSON: What type of work are you looking for in submissions? 

ARTHUR:  No theme. Prose/Poetry/Non-Fiction.

HOPKINSON: What do you wish you’d see submitted, but rarely comes in? 

ARTHUR: Travel prose and poetry.

HOPKINSON: What are some of your favorite lit mags/journals?
